WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Mount Greylock boys basketball team is on a nice roll right now.
The Mounties (7-2) won their fourth straight game Thursday night, beating Turners Falls 70-56. This game had been rescheduled from early in the season because both teams were playing in Super Bowl games.
Tyler Picard registered a double-double with a game-high 28 points and 17 rebounds and was one of four Mounties to score in double figures.
At halftime, the game was tied at 34, but the Mounties outscored the Indians by 14 points over the final two quarters.
"We really tried to focus on playing better defense" in the second half, Greylock coach Bob Thistle said. "The kids made the adjustments and worked harder on defense."
Tyrell Thomas had 17 points, while Hank Barrett and Nathan Majumder had 11 each.
Turners Falls was paced by Mike Smith's 20 points.
McCann boys' basketball
NORTH ADAMS -- Shane Fuller had a game-high 12 points for McCann (3-5, 2-1 Tri-County) and the Hornet defense stifled Westfield Voc's offense in a 70-37 victory.
The Hornets jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter and led 34-16 at halftime. If the visitors had any thoughts about making a comeback, the McCann defense held Westfield to three points in the third quarter.
"We just played straight man-to-man," said McCann coach Mike Nykorchuck. "Our defense did create a lot of turnovers. We also shot well from long distance."

MCLA women's basketball
NORTH ADAMS -- The visiting Western Connecticut State Colonials used a strong defensive effort as they clamped down on MCLA, defeating the Trailblazers 62-48 in a non-conference tilt.
The visitors forced MCLA (8-6) into 31 turnovers on the night. They also controlled the glass, outrebounding MCLA by a wide margin, 54-28, including 28 on the offensive glass to offset a cold shooting night.
After MCLA claimed a one-point halftime edge, the visitors quickly seized control early in the second half. With the game knotted at 28, Western Conn. took the lead for keeps on a layup from Carly Murphy with 14:23 to play.
MCLA was led once again by Lucy Tremblay, who was the only player in double figures, finishing with a game-high 26 points. She added seven rebounds.
