PITTSFIELD -- The Wahconah hockey team has gone through the Hennessy League with relative ease since the 2009-10 season. So much so that the Warriors hadn’t lost a league game in 27 tries. That streak came to an end on Wednesday night.
St. Joseph’s built a three-goal lead with Mike Bloom’s second of the game early in the third period, but the Warriors battled back and salvaged a 4-4 tie, continuing their unbeaten streak.
"With our scoring power, I won’t say I was confident we could come back, but I was comfortable," said Wahconah coach Don Disbrow.
Nick Montferret had a third-period hat trick for Wahconah, fueling the comeback. He had the team’s first tally, cracking the goose egg on the scoreboard it had stared at for more than 38 minutes. Ryan Ouimet had the other tally for Wahconah.
In addition to Bloom’s two goals, Eric Leitch and Derek Romejko had the other goals. Bloom assisted on Romejko’s goal late in the third, giving him a three-point night.
Roger Stedman was forced to make just 11 saves, while Andrew Leitch needed to make 38.
Drury boys’ basketball
LENOX -- The Blue Devils led by just two at halftime, but a strong offensive third quarter and defensive fourth pushed them to their fourth win in five games with a 72-55 victory over Lenox.

But it was the defensive play in the fourth that made that stand up. Drury allowed just eight points, as they scored 15 to grow the lead even more.
Nolan Bird had 21 points and Isiah Pantoja added 15 for Drury.
"They hit 12 3-pointers, including six in the third quarter," said Lenox coach Scott Sibley. We just didn’t get out on them."
Greylock girls’ basketball
GREAT BARRINGTON -- Monument broke open a close game late in the final quarter for a 60-52 win over the Mounties.
"We did some good things on offense in the fourth period," said Spartan coach Chris Unsworth. "We hit our free throws and that helped."
After trailing by five after the opening eight minutes, the Mounties responded and outscore the Spartans by the same margin in the second quarter to head into the locker room even, 22-22.
Monument used a 16-point third quarter to take a two-point advantage into the fourth, where it had its best offensive showing. The Spartans scored 22 points, and despite Greylock also pouring in the most it did in any frame, the Spartans held on.
Samantha White led the Spartans with 18 points, while Lucy Barrett’s 26 led all scorers.
McCann girls’ basketball
NORTH ADAMS -- The visiting Red Raiders jumped all over the Hornets in the first quarter and rolled from there to a 53-24 victory.
The Hornets’ eight points in the first quarter was the most they scored in any frame. By contrast, Hampshire scored 20 in the first eight minutes, 15 in the second and 11 in the third.
"A very tough team," said Hornet coach Mike Dowling. "They have very tall girls, they run the floor. Hard to stop them."
Mary Nguyen led McCann with 11.
