LENOX -- The balanced attack continued for the Mount Greylock boys' basketball team, as it topped Lenox 78-68 to extend its winning streak to 11 games.
The last time these teams played, Tyler Picard had his way with the Millionaires. Lenox coach Scott Sibley said this time, the Millionaires would try to prevent that.
That worked for the Millionaires, but Nathan Majumder scored 21 of his game-high 25 points from outside in the first half as visiting Mount Greylock beat Lenox 78-68.
Majumder made four of his five 3-point baskets in the first half. Picard did score 16, Eric Hirsch had 15 and Hank Barrett added 14.
For Lenox (6-10), Andrew Vickery scored 21, Jared Tuttle had 13 and Bailey Patella 12.
"We're on the brink," said Sibley. "Every game is a tournament game from here on out."
McCann boys' basketball
WESTFIELD -- The McCann Tech boys' jumped out to a 16-6 lead and controlled the game the rest of the way, en route to a 55-41 victory over Westfield Vocational.
"We took that early lead, and pretty much held serve the whole game," said Hornet coach Mike Nykorchuk.
Josh Superneau had 13 points, eight rebounds, five steals and five assists to lead the Hornets, while Anthony Duprat had 14 points.
Hoosac girls' basketball
CHESHIRE -- Visiting Pittsfield turned the tables on the Hurricanes, using a successful trapping defense in the fourth quarter to turn a
The Hurricanes had held PHS to 25 points in the first three quarters by using a traipping defense of its own.
"I thought they played more aggressive," Hoosac coach Ron Wojcik said of Pittsfield. "In the fourth quarter, it kind of reversed. We didn't handle the trap well and we didn't play good defense."
Lauren Carnevale had a game-high 11 points for Pittsfield and Dominique Satrape had 10. Emily Rosse led Hoosac with seven points.
McCann girls' basketball
NORTH ADAMS -- The Hornets held Deseraye Conaway to four points in the first quarter, but Hannah Herrick scored 10 of her 14 in the opening eight minutes as the visiting Eagles jumped out to a 14-4 lead. The visitors never trailed, winning 46-26.
The Hornets are still 4-1 in conference play, but head coach Mike Dowling said that Tuesday's game wasn't good enough.
"We needed a better game [going back into the] league schedule," he said. "This wasn't it."
Conaway finished up with 17 points. Eileen Zajac led McCann with seven points.
MCLA women's basketball
NORTH ADAMS -- In the opening game of a MASCAC doubleheader, visiting Westfield held the Trailblazers (8-14, 0-9) to just 18 points in the first half, and MCLA couldn't catch up, and took a 65-43 loss.
The Trailblazers were badly beaten on the boards, as the Owls outrebounded the home team 59-30 and 19-9 on the offensive glass.
Westfield (15-8, 7-3) was paced by Jen Ashton's 12 points. While just two owls hit double figures, 10 recorded points to help lead the way past the Trailblazers.
Kait Chenevert led the Trailblazers with 16 points. No other player hit double figures. MCLA gets back into action Saturday against Framingham.
