Hoosac Valley hosted the entire county for a track and field meet on April 17. At the event, the track was dedicated in a special ceremony. Dana Labbee, a former Hoosac Valley runner, was honored with special stickers placed on the hurdles.
This week’s highlights: Mount Greylock’s Alex Majetich set a school record in the 100-meter dash on April 17. ... Mount Greylock softball pitcher Heather Tomkowicz tossed a no-hitter against Lee. ... Freshman Matt Koperniak had five RBI for Hoosac Valley in a baseball win over Lee.
Look back: The Blue Devils got their first win of the season on Monday, 8-6 over Wahconah. Nolan Bird’s RBI single in the sixth inning broke the tie for Drury. The Blue Devils also played Greylock this week, leading for five innings before the Mounties scored nine runs in sixth and held on for a 10-7 win.
Look ahead: The Blue Devils will take on rival Hoosac Valley on April 22 to start their week. They will also play Wahconah and Taconic this week.
Look back: Matt Koperniak notched five RBI in Hoosac’s 11-2 win over Lee on April 19. It was the second time this week the Hurricanes faced Lee and the second win the Hurricanes got. Justin Nichols got the win in the April 17 contest to help Hoosac win its first game of the season.
Look ahead: The Hurricanes host rival Drury on April 22. The Hurricanes travel to Pittsfield to challenge St. Joseph’s on April 24 and Mount Everett comes to town on April 26.
Look back: The Hornets couldn’t find their offense this week. In three games, McCann was outscored 47-7.
Look ahead: McCann takes on Commerce on April 22 and then Pathfinder on April 24.
Look back: The Mounties won both games. They started with a come-from-behind win at Drury on April 17, 10-7. They then won in a much easier fashion April 19 against Mount Everett, 11-2. Their game against Taconic on April 16 was postponed until April 27.
Look ahead: The Mounties will play four games this week. Lee comes to town on April 22, and travel to Pittsfield and Lenox later in the week. Greylock will play Taconic on April 27, a game originally scheduled for April 16.
Hoosac boys’ lacrosse
Look back: The Hurricanes suffered a minor set back after a hot 3-0 start to the season. Stephin Wallace scored five goals, but it wasn’t enough as Hoosac fell to Pittsfield, 14-6. Greylock then shutout the Hurricanes, 19-0.
Look ahead: The Hurricanes have a tough schedule with St. Joseph’s and Taconic on deck this week.
Greylock boys’ lacrosse
Look back: Brett McCormack’s 10 points led the way for the Mounties in a 19-0 win over Hoosac on April 19. Michael McCormack had six goals and three assists to lead a 24-5 win over Pittsfield on April 17. The Mounties have scored 120 goals on the season and are unbeaten in Berkshire County.
Look ahead: The Mounties will face Cathedral -- the team that knocked them from the playoffs last season -- on April 22. Greylock then takes on Tacoinc and St. Joseph’s later in the week.
Hoosac girls’ lacrosse
Look back: The Hurricanes erased a five-goal deficit against Pittsfield on April 16, but couldn’t get the victory. Pittsfield hung on for an 8-7 win. Sydnee Gallup had three goals for the Hurricanes.
Look ahead: Hoosac will play North County rival Mount Greylock on April 22. The Hurricanes will host Lee on April 24 and round out the week by visiting Wahconah on April 26.
Greylock girls’ lacrosse
Look back: The Mounties dropped their only game of the week, 10-9 to Wahconah. Lucy Barrett scored three goals and Maggie Rorke added two.
Look ahead: The Mounties will play Hoosac on April 22, then Belchertown on April 24 and host Lee on April 26.
Look back: Mount Everett put an end to Drury’s undefeated season with a 5-1 win on April 18. Earlier in the week, the Blue Devils got an extra-inning win over St. Joseph’s. Cat Record was dominant in the win, striking out 12. The Blue Devils also beat Hoosac early in the week, getting three hits from Katie Hancock in the victory.
Look ahead: Drury challenges two North Division teams this week. Pittsfield comes to North Adams on April 23. Wahconah hosts Drury on April 25.
Look back: The week started off well for the Hurricanes. Caroline Tomkowicz dominated the Mount Greylock lineup, striking out 13 in an extra-inning win over the Mounties on April 13. It went downhill from there for the Hurricanes, dropping three straight. Drury beat them 4-0 on April 15, Wahconah topped them 8-4 on April 16 and Pittsfield squeaked out a 1-0 win on April 18.
Look ahead: The schedule doesn’t get any easier for the Hurricanes this week. They will play St. Joseph’s on April 23 and Mount Everett on April 25.
Look back: Jessica Sunn had three RBI, a triple and a double in the Hornets’ first win of the season, 20-5 on April 18. Jordan Prevey had two RBI, two doubles and crossed the plate four times in the win. She finished the week with three triples and three doubles. The Hornets also suffered two losses on the week. They dropped a game to Southwick, 14-0 on April 16. McCann outhit Southwick in the contest, but allowed 18 walks. Ware topped McCann, 10-7 on April 17. Prevey was 4 for 4 in the loss.
Look ahead: The Hornets will travel to Granby on April 24 and host Holyoke Catholic on April 26.
Look back: Heather Tomkowicz has been impressive in the pitchers’ circle so far this season. She tossed a no-hitter against Lee on April 18. The Mounties won 12-0 in five innings. The Mounties dropped a close game in extra innings to Hoosac Valley on April 13. Tomkowicz had 11 strikeouts in that contest.
Look ahead: The Mounties will host Monument on April 20 and travel to Pittsfield on April 25.
Greylock boys’ tennis
Look back: The only match for the Mounties this week was postponed due to the weather. There was no makeup date as of Friday afternoon.
Look ahead: The Mounties will play Pittsfield on April 23.
Greylock girls’ tennis
Look back: The Mounties didn’t drop a set against Taconic and topped Taconic, 5-0 on April 16. Melina Sfakianaki won at No. 3 singles 6-0, 6-0. Margot Besnard got her first victory of the season at No. 1 singles.
Look ahead: Greylock will host Pittsfield on April 23 and Mohawk on April 25.

Look back: The Blue Devils brought a small contingent to the Berkshire Invitational on April 17 and didn’t place anyone inside the top three in any events.

Look back: Travis Ciempa won the 1 mile at the Invitational and barely missed qualifying for Western Mass. He finished in 4:50.20 -- Western Mass time is 4:50.

Look back: Carter Stripp finished second in the mile for the Mounties on April 17. The 4x800 relay team of Richard Astle, Tommy Kirby, Sam Kobrin and Jake Kobrin took second place at the Invitational.

Look back: Alyssa Marceau was the only individual winner for the Blue Devils at the Berkshire Invitational. She won the 100 hurdles in 17:50.

Look back: Meg Rodowicz won the 400 in 1:04.60 at the Invitational. She was the only individual winner for the Hurricanes. Kalyn Alibozek did not run in the meet due to a minor injury.

Look back: Alex Majetich set a Mount Greylock school record at the Berkshire Invitational. She ran the 100-meter dash in 12.3 seconds to win the event. Jenna Phelps qualified for the Western Massachusetts meet in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing in 1:14; she won the event. Kat Chenail won the 2 mile in 13:17.
Look ahead: The Mounties visit Drury on April 26, Hoosac Valley will also be at the meet.
